Man vs Squirrel (Round 2)

Happy Thanksgiving! I love this holiday. I have much to be thankful for including the technology that allows me to share random thoughts and photos via this blog.

I am not very thankful for squirrels. I have defeated the grays with a caged feeder but it is invisible to the smaller red  squirrels who force themselves through the barrier.

I positioned the feeder near a window to afford a nice view of birds. I tolerated one red squirrel, but the second one tipped the scale.

When these two got into a tussle inside the cage,  I realized that I needed to take action. Not only were they consuming tons of seed, they were creating a negative environment for the chickadees that continued to feed in spite of their presence.

My solution, my response was to ,suspend the feeder from a wire. Gray squirrels can negotiate the wire but not the cage.
