I scan photos for the New Ipswich Historical Society. I find that I am constantly trying to understand the background story behind every photo. Some are obvious, some are obscure. Here are some examples.

History
I was sorting through the photo collection of the New Ipswich Historical Society when I uncovered some photos from the American-Philippines War.
Birds
It is getting cold but I'm still seeing bluebirds. Will they stay through the winter months?
Thanksgiving
I'm thankful that the family was able to gather together for a shared Thanksgiving supper just as we had done before COVID arrived. I'm thankful for science and vaccinations.
Biography
It is #ThrowbackThursday and I'm sharing a few photos of 1970 California. I was in the Navy and this was exactly where I needed to be.
Birthday
My sister passed away in January from complications caused by cancer. Her birthday is Oct 27th. This would have been her 69th birthday.
Bear
I am enjoying sitting on the deck watching the bees visit the last blossoms before the killing frosts. Bluebirds have returned for one last time to my feeders. However bird feeders are attractive to a larger animal.
Animalia
Marcia and Mark Wilson founded Eyes on Owls in 1994. They present wild owls as an educational enterprise. The owls they care for are permanently disabled and cannot survive in the wild.

Fall has arrived and the bears are preparing for hibernation. I had this black bear visit me today to check out my bird feeder. He (or she) showed NO FEAR of this puny human.
Birthday
I turned 75 this month. Where did those years go? I'm entering the final chapter of my life and I have a few thoughts about that.
